System integration

Modern projects often incorporate many different technical elements, and are increasing in complexity all the time. It used to be possible to just connect things together and tinker until they work, but larger systems require proper planning and attention to detail. For instance, it may be necessary to consider the following:

  • Power: mains and low-voltage power distribution for all equipment, including backup power if required, remote load switching and circuit breakers. Specification of DC power supply units
  • Networking: design of network infrastructure accounting for bandwidth requirements, remote access and redundancy
  • Enclosures: specification and design of enclosures to hold and transport equipment, including customised rack-mountable cases
  • Cabinet wiring: design and implementation of wiring schemes within equipment cabinets
  • Environmental: temperature and humidity monitoring for equipment, and control of cooling or heating devices if required
  • Software “glue”: customised software modules to allow equipment from different manufacturers to exchange information or commands with each other
  • System troubleshooting: identification and resolution of complicated system-wide faults

Calvitia has significant system integration experience, and is well-placed to offer all of the above design considerations.
